can not find replacement trayBought this for personal use when I moved into a new apartment in a new city. Wanted something small enough to fit into a small kitchen yet large and powerful enough to deal with refridgerated leftovers without having to wait forever. The turntable works fine; it will come loose from the central turning gear if you jolt it but this is true of almost any microwave with a removable glass turntable. Has one button instant-high preset cooks up to 6 minutes, with longer cooking times if desired that can be input through the keypad. I can cook an egg in a bowl in 1 minute, where the yolk will still have that slightly 'runny' consistency associated with Eggs Benedict. After about 1.5 minutes (depending on whether you are cooking 1 or 2 eggs) the yolks will be cooked thoroughly solid. A great alternative to frying an egg to 'spice' up leftovers, since there is no added oil.As some other reviewers have mentioned, the unit is fairly light and can move on the countertop when trying to open the door. In my view, this is not a big issue- I'd actually be more concerned if the unit was made excessively heavy since that would inevitably add to the cost (and back pains) during house moves.I give it 4 stars instead of 5 because it relies on a pull-to-open action, which plays to the weakness of the lightness, rather than a 'push-button-to-open' system, which would have been more ideal with minimal additional engineering needed. Subjective? Perhaps. But I bought this unit knowing that it would have this shortcoming and while I don't regret my purchase, I still wish that such a sensible function was present.I remember the first microwave my family bought. They picked it up at costco, it had a dial that didn't go lower than 1 minute and didn't have a turntable inside, I think those became standard years later. The dial wouldn't start if you tried to set it for 30 seconds or whatever, so you'd have to standby and wait if you needed something heated for less than a minute.I thought it was the best invention ever. Fast forward too many years to admit and our trusty microwave died on us (not the one with the dial, that one was given to me when I went off to college and my idiot roommate killed it by trying to heat up mac n' cheese with a spoon still in the bowl). So we got this one. Waiting for it to arrive was excrutiating. I didn't realize how much I'd come to depend on it.I heat tea and coffee pretty much all day long. I use it to soften butter or cream cheese. It's the perfect out of the way spot for proofing dough. Leftovers for three? Easy and practically instantaneous. So I was beyond excited when this microwave finally arrived. It was a bit different than our last micro. For example our old micro had the fast buttons; baked potato, beverage, etc. It also had a 30 sec button for quick heat ups, but you could use the number pad to enter a time for cooking; 1 min 15 seconds or whatever. On this new micro you have to push the TIMED COOK button BEFORE you enter the numbers or else entering 4 turns into 4 minutes! This is a change that I don't care for and have been a bit worried will turn disastrous sometime when I try to heat a cold chicken breast for 45 seconds and instead it turns to 9 minutes of heating! But other than this small quibble its a nice little machine. My little microwave came in today (super fast shipping at a really good price) and it is exactly what I needed since my old micro was on its final leg (only the express defrost was working). It is a small microwave which helps me save space. It is a perfect size for my home because there are only two of us and we use the microwave for prep work and/or small meals to warm up. It is a light item so it needed to have something placed on top to keep it from sliding a bit when I opened the front door but I had something on my old micro so it isn't a change for me.So far, I warmed up my corn chowder soup from lunch with ease. My son used it to make popcorn. We haven't had micro popcorn in a really long time. The front panel is a bit small so I think people with not great eyesight may want to consider that. If you look at it straight on and in good lighting, it isn't so bad but if it is at an angle with low lighting, the panel labels are a bit hard to discern. That's about the only thing so far that I can say against it. Otherwise, I'm pretty happy with it and it was a solid price. When it became clear that my husband and I were not going to be living together any longer, I didn't want to send him out into the world on his own with no things. I looked for things that I knew he'd need, thinking realistically, I knew a microwave was at the top of that list.I looked at price vs. features and for a user friendly interface, and of the 30 or so microwaves I compared, this one seemed the easiest for him to use and set up out of the box without the necessity to read a manual (not to knock males or anything, but he isn't known to crack the spine on anything that says instruction manual on the cover). He has been using the microwave for almost 2 months now and hasn't had any issues with it. Below is a summary of the questions I asked as well as his responses:Was the microwave easy to set up?I plugged it in and it turned on.Was it easy to set up the time?I can put stuff in it and it comes out hot. It beeps to let me know its done.Does it heat food evenly?I put stuff in it and it comes out hot.Have you defrosted anything with it?I do put cold food in it and it comes out hot. If it's still cold I put it back in until it is hot.Is it loud when it operates? You mean like the beeper? I can hear the beeper when I'm in the living room.I had an old Danby that I loved, it broke after 8 years and I was glad to have found this closest replacement. Controls are very handy as you have the one-touch start button for 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 min respectively. Pressing START itself will start the microwave for 30 seconds and pressing it again while running adds 30 secs each time. It's literally the fewest number of presses possible to get the job done. Some may complain it doesn't have enough power, but what's a few more seconds to wait in exchange for a compact, sleek, and good looking microwave. It's the smallest, functional unit for my kitchen counter top which is cluttered as it is. I don't know why there aren't more manufacturers competing in this size category!I love the look of this microwave and it functions extremely well. I never banged the glass door though so I'm surprised that it already has a chip right along the edge. It's still under warranty and I'm not going to complain over a minor chip. But it does cause concern overall. If this is the only problem I have, I would recommend this microwave :)My old Danby (of 10 years) sounded like a hive of angry wasps when working and gave off hints off smoke occasionally, hence the new one, which is FANTASTIC!1) So quiet when running had to check the first few days to make sure it was;2) Specifically wanted the handle opener, which is SO much better than the 'button' opener on the old one;3) One touch fast buttons 1-6 (corresponding minutes on high) are very convenient for heating a quick cup of coffee, etc;4) The presets that I have tried (dinner plate, popcorn, etc) all seem very accurate.5) Looks great on the kitchen counter. The only negatives, which for me do not affect the star rating, are:1) It slides on the counter when opening the door (solved by setting it on a piece of rubberized drawer liner);2) BEEPS TO MUCH AND TOO LOUDLY at the end of its cycle, which can be avoided by opening the door when it gets to 1 second and pressing the Reset button. I read somewhere that Danby is working on this and certainly hope so. Between the beeping stove, beeping microwave and beeping fridge, it's enough to drive a person mad!Good looking oven and just what i needed to replace a smaller less powerful still working 8yr old Danby oven. Bought it because of good reviews and price point and because of the service I have had from my old oven. I am very pleased with my purchase. Would recommend without hesitation.Looks good. Just the right size - not too small - not too big - for kitchen counter.Used basic not advanced functions.Takes more time than I expected to warm even basic things like liquids.Issue: when press to open door - it wildly swings open - to the edge of its hinge. Over time, might damage door. ?
